Lakers News: Where Writer Ranks LA's Offseason Signings Among NBA Competitors

Did LA do enough to win the title next season?

After the strong offseason that the Los Angeles Lakers have had, they have put themselves up toward the top of contenders in the NBA. The team kept more of the core that just went to the Western Conference Finals and then added around the edges to boost the roster up.

General Manager Rob Pelinka deserves major credit for building this roster up, and the Lakers should be a fun team once again. They improved their three-point shooting and brought in guys who will play their style of basketball.

Dan Favale of Bleacher Report listed his top six teams that improved this offseason and had the Lakers among those teams.

“Yet, most of the Lakers' improvement is tied to internal development and more time together rather than a combination of additives. At the same time, going from Schröder to Vincent is a material offensive upgrade that doesn't sacrifice any defensive juice, and Prince is a legit three-and-D complement who should have a chance to close games.”

Per Bleacher Report

The moves that LA did make will give them an upgraded chance to capture banner 18 next season. The players they brought in are the type of guys that head coach Darvin Ham likes, scrappy and defensive-first guys.

They still have LeBron James and Anthony Davis leading the charge, so if they stay healthy than the Lakers will likely be a problem for the rest of the NBA.

This team was four wins from the NBA Finals after a few months together, and now they get an entire summer plus training camp to gel even more. 2023-2024 could be a special season for the Lakers, so buckle up for the ride Laker fans!
